People who's job is to greet people is to greet and answers new people's questions. They have no "modly" powers they just greet and answer questions. I have been greeting people and offering my help for a very long time. And I'm noticing other people doing it. Thanks, Orip
Well we do have Helpers already, /c Sourbot/Cfmbot helperlist, but they're not very well known. e// and may I add Helpers aren't an official part of Transformice. They're mainly run by CFM.
I don't think Transformice needs "greeters" per se, but about the answering questions that's kind of what the Helpers are for, as Neko mentioned. They aren't official, but the leaders of the Helpers MAKE SURE to only recruit the most fit players to be a Helper. 99% of the time Helpers are completely reliable. If they can't answer a question, they'll likely redirect you to someone who can. If only more people knew of them. :L But for greeters in specific I don't think it's possible for a group of mice to greet EVERY SINGLE new player and assist them appropriately. Just doesn't seem to plausible in that aspect.
A bot COULD work, sending a whisper to a new player while they are in that tutorial, but do you realize there are about 65 accounts made in 30 minutes, maybe more, and at least 10 of them are alts or fake to annoy someone. So this idea would be pretty much impossible.
If your going to say helpers, then do what I've said multiple times, MAKE THEM MORE ACCESSIBLE. I've tried to contact Helpers on multiple occasions and have never gotten an answer. They have to help the WHOLE EN or FR server. They can't do that. So quit throwing every suggestion out the window and saying Helpers will do it. THEY CAN'T. Ghost made a valid point and I agree that this suggestion will not work. But everything can't be dumped on helpers. Orip EDIT: Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I am not downing the Helpers. The Helpers are great but they are only humans.
Helpers should be one pretty much all the time and we cover almost all servers (cheese.formice.com/helpers). We're not saying greeters are a bad idea; we're just saying Helpers would be similar to the answering questions part of it. We can't make Helpers more "accessible" strictly because we're not official. That's the only problem we have with Helpers; we can't make them accessible if the admins don't want us to become official/allow us to make it obvious. We have no control over what the admins do, unfortunately. On a different note, you'd need a lot of people in order to greet, or a bot, and as Ghost said, the issue would mainly be with how many accounts are made every day. It'd be hard to keep up.
I understand that greeters will not work. Ghost and you made valid points. BUT dumping most any suggestions on the Helpers WILL NOT WORK. I love the idea of Helpers but they are HUMANS and as you said are not official, so the Helpers can't do everything. So why not find a way to divide work. As I already stated the idea of Greeters has been proven implausible, I understand that, but the Helpers can't do everything, so stop acting like they can.
Nobody said they can do everything, but we can handle all the questions we get. We don't need to water our duties down anymore.

I'm not sure what the point was since what you want is completely different than what Helpers do and it'd have to be discussed between the admins of TFM, but okay.
