Transformice Questions
When did you start playing Transformice? How did you find it?
I started playing probably around early June 2010; I remember being oh so very confused about nearly every aspect of being Shaman. Those anchors at the time were so confusing to me, but it didn’t take long at all to finally be able to create something functional. :p (Spent quite awhile just in my own room with a friend trying to build good bridges and such.) Once I got an idea of how all of that worked and got the very basic game play skills down, I was hooked. (And just to think, in just a few months I would have been playing this game for a year!) I found TFM back on this forum based site, (which I spent years playing on, but once I found TFM my activity on that site dropped so much, and now I find myself rarely even visiting it) a friend of mine had posted a thread about how simple yet fun this game was, and that was when I decided to check it out.
How did you get involved with the Transformice staff?
Secret of course! I will say I’m very thankful to the great friend of mine who got me involved with the staff in the first place, definitely was one of the greatest highlights in my time of playing TFM, I can’t thank this guy enough. ;)
What are your favorite shop items?
My most favorite items would be these: halo, winter scarf, eye patch, and rose. All together in one combination, those that have known me for a long while and have played enough with me know that I rarely change my mouse’s outfit… I just add on whatever items I like when they come out and that’s how I ended up with that outfit. Best outfit, k?
What is the best excuse you've heard from someone asking for an unban?
I love the classic “omg my bro and i share an account and when i left the room and came bak he hack and got my account banned!!?!?! PLZ HELP plz unban me :( :( :( will u help??”. Couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve heard that excuse and things of the alike. Nearly every one of them that use that excuse will have terrible grammar and spelling, and excess !’s, ?’s, and sad faces. Though there has been a few that tried to be completely serious about it, but it’s still very easy to tell when they’re lying and making up excuses. Always get new ones everyday.
Any memorable moments from Transformice?
I definitely have many memorable moments that came from Transformice, whether it be from the fun times of just playing and chatting, or the day I became a moderator. Nearly every title I unlocked for firsts was a memorable moment as well, especially Quick Silver of course. A bit ago I unlocked the one I've wanted since the new titles came out, which would be Time Traveler, took awhile since I don't get a whole lot of time to actually play anymore. Was pretty happy about that, even though I don't even wear it. :p I've also met some very amazing people on TFM, some of which I'm still friends with today and look forward to talking with whenever I can, won't forget those people.
Which of the vanilla maps is your favorite?
Map 0, of course. So many possibilities for building different shaman contraptions on that map, such as ratapults, lifts, etc. Map 10 is a nice map as well, for both shaman building and for playing on (without sham's help). Another one I like to complete without shaman's help is map 53, bit easy but I like it. Along with 82, as long as I end up paired with a good partner and am able to slingshot to the other side. I'd say those are among my top favorite vanilla maps.
How long did it take you to learn how to wall jump? (be honest :p)
I won't lie, it took me awhile to get comfortable with wall jumping and finding a way that works for me. Sure I could wall jump alright after playing for a bit and practicing, but I hadn't really been comfortable with the way I wall jumped. Wasn't till awhile after (don't remember exactly how long it had been) that I had finally found a way to wall jump easier, and more efficiently. Till this day, I wall jump left using my right hand + arrow keys, while left hand + WASD for right wall jumps. It works, trust me. :p
Favorite/least favorite part of being a mod?
Favorite part--Nearly every aspect of it. Almost. As much as this is probably cliché sounding, I love being able to help users in the community to the best of my ability. It's why I was so excited to become a moderator in the first place, had the opportunity to actually ban the hackers I found, take care of any nasty behavior from users, and look at the maps created by some people. Having the ability to play music was also a plus, but I can't say I'm too focused on that. Will through a party here and there on EN2 with music though, good way to pass the time and users seem to enjoy it when I do.
What is the origin of your username?
I had been pretty uncreative at the time of making my account, and I hadn't exactly planned to still be playing TFM to this day when I played for the first time. First thing that popped in my head to use as a username would be my name. Of course "Laura" was taken (so disappointed!) so I thought for like a second, first thing to pop in my mind was to add "hii" at the end. Used "Laurahii" ever since.
Random Questions
Any siblings?
Yes, one brother.
Worst fear?
Having cancer in the future, especially since it's known to run on my mom's side of the family.
Were you a well-behaved a child or a trouble maker?
I was quite the mix of the two, sometimes I would be rather rebellious while others I'd be completely on my best behavior. Can't say I ever got into any serious trouble much though, mostly consisted of minuscule punishments for whenever I did something I wasn't supposed to. Never did anything -toocrazy, or so I'd like to hope so. :(
What are your favorite video games?
No video games for me. Never really played any video games much to be honest, I don't own any game consoles. Except I owned a gameboy advance SP awhile ago.. no clue where that old thing ended up going. Been years upon years since I've played that, but I remember I had a Tom and Jerry game for it. Besides that, I just stick to my laptop and TFM now. :p
What is your favorite type of cheese?
To be honest, I don't like cheese very much at all. Find it rather disgusting plain, but on foods like pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches, etc., I don't mind it. Though, that pretty much consists of just mozzarella, little cheddar and American cheese. I dislike any of those "fancy" cheese, but then again I'm a very picky eater overall anyways. :p
Any pets?
I have one cat at the moment, though while growing up I've had several different kinds of pets. I've had several dogs, cats, hamsters, a rabbit, a mouse, and a couple sugar gliders. Not all at the same time, of course. I think I'll stick to just cats and dogs in the future though.
Hobbies outside of TFM?
I honestly can't say I have that many hobbies outside of TFM at the moment, most of my time is either time spent at work, or home. One thing I enjoy doing, and get to do pretty much everyday, is to cook. I make pretty delicious food I'd say, especially things like grilled chicken/steak, garlic chicken pasta, chile verde enchiladas, among many other things. :p Oh, and grilled cheese sandwiches. So simple to make, but I make them taste sooo good.
Who did you learn to cook from? Where do you get new recipes from?
Learned a lot of basic cooking from my mother when I was young, took her recipes and made them my own by adding/removing things where I saw fit. Besides that, I pretty much taught myself through plenty of experimenting, both good and not all too good. :p Though after the years I'd say I've become pretty good at cooking and I definitely enjoy it. As for new recipes, it usual just starts off with experimenting. I don't try new recipes often though, usually mix up the things I already know how to cook.
What junk food are you guilty of indulging on?
I don't usually have much of a sweet tooth, but I do have those days were I completely crave something sweet. Nothing like ice cream or cake though, that's a bit too sweet for my liking. I prefer just different types of candies whenever I get that rare sweet tooth. Other than that I don't indulge in too much junk foods.
One thing you can't live without?
Oh there's far too many things I can't live without, I don't think I could choose just one single thing. Definitely couldn't do without my close friends though,
Cats or dogs?
Both, I couldn't choose between the two.
