When did you start playing Transformice? How did you find it?
I started playing on the 21st of June and have been playing constantly ever since. I found it on some random Dutch blog of which I'll spare you the name.
How long have you been a mod?
At the time of this interview I've been a public mod for a grand total of 5 days. As a secret mod however....well, that's a secret. ;)
Where do you get the inspiration for your maps?
This might sound a bit weird, but mostly other players' maps. Whenever I saw an interesting map or concept I just tried to adapt and perfect it. Of course I didn't do this for all my maps. Sometimes I just stared at my screen until I finally got an idea. I haven't created a map in quite some time now, so I guess you could say I lost my inspiration.
What is your favorite type of map to make?
Most of my latest maps are vanilla styled. They're easy to make once you have a good idea.
Back in the day, before all the fancy IF and Rype's glitch stuff, I experimented with mechanism and tricks quite a lot. So those kind of maps were my favorite back then.
What elements do you like to put in your maps?
Simple vanilla-like elements that still create an interesting problem for the shaman.
What map are you most proud of?
I'm not sure why I'm so attached to this map. Probably because I created over 20 versions of it before I was satisfied.
What map was most frustrating for you to make?
This map by far. It just kept on breaking, but I finally got it to work properly....most of the times. Sometimes it still spazzes out though.
How much recognition in-game do you get for your map-making?
Quite a lot. With 3 maps official permanent a lot of people get to see my maps.
Any memorable moments from Transformice?
Most memorable moment would be back in the day, when permanent maps were still a big deal. Getting my maps permed back then felt quite satisfying. Then there's also getting some of my maps official permanent, but it didn't quite give me the feeling as back in the day. And last but not least getting modded was also definitely a memorable moment.
Favorite/least favorite game update?
By far my most favorite has to be the map editor update. It pretty much added an entire new aspect to Transformice. I'm not sure about my least favorite update. I get excited every time there's an update so I don't think I really have a least favorite one.
Favorite aspect of TFM (bootcamp, shaman, etc)?
My favorite aspect has to be that there so many aspects to this game. There's a creative aspect with the map editor, a social aspect and of course all the different game modes. Whenever I get bored with one I can just switch to another.
How long did it take you to learn how to wall jump? (be honest
I seriously wouldn't know, it's so long ago. But if I would have to guess it would probably be around a day.
Favorite/least favorite part of being a mod?
I've been a mod for only a short amount of time, so it's hard to tell. It definitely feels good to do my part in keeping this game enjoyable for everyone. Least favorite thing has to be being spammed pointless things and dealing with those properly.
In your professional opinion, who is a better player: Meli or Tig?
I can't remember the last time I've seen either of them play, but from what I can remember Tig is a pretty good shaman. So yea, I'd say Tig.
What is the origin of your username?
Some people think I'm a fan of Lego, but that's actually not true. I was just trying to think of a new username when I glanced over a pile of old games I still had on my desk. In that pile there happened to be Lego Racers and some random Lord of the Rings game. The rest is history :p
What is your worst fear?
I don't have any irrational fears, aside from being trypophobic. Yes, you're allowed to google that. :p
Were you a well-behaved a child or a trouble maker?
Extremely well-behaved when I was kid. Nowadays I can be a bit more of a trouble maker.
Do you have any pets?
Nope and that's probably a good thing. For the pets that is.
What is some of your favorite music?
I'll listen to anything that's not too extreme or too mainstream, which is simply too much to list here.
What junk food are you guilty of indulging on?
We have our own deep fryer at my place and sometimes it's just too hard to resist....
What is one thing you can't live without?
Coffee or tea?
Cats or dogs?
Snakes. Trouser snakes in particular.
