Transformice isn't just about grabbing cheese — there are multiple game modes that completely change how you play. Whether you're a patient builder, a speed demon, or someone who just wants to watch mice suffer, there's something for you. Here's every mode and what makes it tick.
The classic Transformice experience. A shaman helps mice grab cheese and get to the hole. The player with the most points becomes shaman for the next round. You earn experience by collecting cheese and saving mice. This is where most players start, and honestly, where most of the chaos happens. Twenty mice scrambling for cheese while one shaman either helps or accidentally (or not so accidentally) launches everyone off the map.
Stats tracked: cheese gathered, firsts, shaman saves. Check the Mouse Leaderboard for rankings.
No shaman. No help. Just you and the hardest maps in the game. Bootcamp maps are designed to test your wall-jumping, air-jumping, and general mouse agility to the absolute limit. Some maps take weeks to learn. Completions only count in rooms with 4+ mice, so you can't just solo grind in an empty room.
The top bootcampers have completed over 500,000 maps — players like Eric#3509 who sits at the top of our Bootcamp Leaderboard.
Pure speed. Racing maps are built for velocity — sprint to the cheese and back to the hole before anyone else. Firsts only count in rooms with 11+ mice, which keeps it competitive. The maps often have smooth terrain designed for momentum-based movement rather than the precision jumping you see in bootcamp.

One player becomes the shaman, and their job isn't to help — it's to kill every mouse on the map. Mice have to dodge cannonballs, falling anvils, and whatever else the shaman throws at them. Last mouse standing wins. It's the most adversarial mode in Transformice, and some shamans have gotten terrifyingly good at it.
Players like Emigirl#3059 have racked up 200,000+ kills. Full rankings: Survivor Leaderboard.
Defilante is a cooperative mode where all mice work together to complete scrolling maps. Think of it like an auto-scrolling platformer — you need to keep up with the camera while dodging obstacles. Teamwork matters here more than anywhere else in the game. Stats were added to profiles in V1.600 (October 2020).
Village: A social hub (map 801) where you can hang out, access shops, and interact with other players. No gameplay objectives here — just vibes.
Lua Modules: Community-created game modes using Lua scripting. These include parkour, deathmatch, and dozens of other custom experiences. Some modules have their own title rewards.
Events/Adventures: Temporary seasonal modes with unique maps and rewards. Check our Events 2026 page for the current calendar.
