Transformice is still going strong in 2026. Over 55 million people have played this chaotic little mouse game since it launched in 2010, and the community is as active as ever. If you've never tried it — or if you played the old browser version years ago and want to come back — here's everything you need to get started.
Free to play · Windows, Mac & Linux · 60 MB
The original browser version of Transformice used Flash, which died in 2020. Since then the game moved entirely to Steam. Getting started takes about 2 minutes:
You're a tiny mouse. There's a piece of cheese somewhere on the map. You have less than 2 minutes to grab it and bring it back to the hole. Sounds simple — except there are 20+ other mice doing the same thing, the physics engine is intentionally chaotic, and one player is the Shaman with the power to either save everyone or ruin everything with planks and anvils.
That's the core loop, and it never gets old. The maps reset every round, there are millions of community-created levels, and the ridiculous chain reactions of mice falling, bouncing, and yeeting each other off platforms keep things fresh after hundreds of hours. Atelier 801 (the French duo who made it) have been running seasonal events, adding new content, and keeping the servers alive for over 15 years now.
Transformice runs on practically anything. It's a 2D Flash-based game ported to a native client — your 10-year-old laptop can handle it.

There's more to Transformice than vanilla cheese runs. The game has 6 distinct modes, each with its own leaderboard and playstyle. Bootcamp throws you into impossible maps where only the best survive. Racing is pure speed — first mouse to the cheese wins. Survivor pits you against a shaman trying to kill everyone. And Defilante is a co-op endurance run where teamwork actually matters.
